Award winning – Best use of mobile learning
2020 Awards
2020 has been a very exciting year for the A Life in a Day team, and one of the highlights has been winning not one but two awards in the Learning Technologies Awards for 2020. But this fantastic success wasn’t a quick rise to fame for us. We’ve been working really hard over the last few years developing and honing this amazing immersive, simulation product. It really has in some ways been a true passion project.
So we were incredibly honoured to have been shortlisted in the first place alongside some amazing organisations.
As you might imagine there was a huge amount of anticipation on the night of the awards. Even though we couldn’t physically be together we shared a real bond and palpable excitement. Spirits were high and so were the nerves as you can see.
And then we won! Twice! We were all so excited to get such substantial validation for literally years and years of hard work and commitment. We were all absolutely thrilled.
We couldn’t have been prouder to have won in two categories – Gold for Best Use of Mobile Learning, and Silver in Best Use of Simulation or Virtual Environment for Learning. Winning these awards has been such a testament to a phenomenal amount of hard work and commitment bringing such an amazing, and really worthwhile project to fruition.
And the judge’s verdict agreed ….
Gold Winner – Best Use of Mobile Learning
“A truly inspirational project which has demonstrated a fundamental understanding of the psychological relationship between a user and their mobile device. This is proof that successful mobile learning can be achieved with little technological innovation but instead focusing on the users and the expected outcomes of the project. The thoughtfulness around not only immersing the user into the perspective of their patient audience but also doing related tasks were inspired. The judges found that it would be all but impossible to deliver the learning experience on anything other than a mobile device, which made this entry stand out as a worthy category winner.”
Silver Winner – Best Use of Simulation or Virtual Environment for Learning
“This submission scores top marks for innovation. As a soft skills training programme, it is one of the best the judges have seen. Attention to detail and thorough research underpin an impactful and truly original simulation of the patient experience. Impact was demonstrated across the four criteria (knowledge, empathy, confidence and put patient first). A very worthy silver winner.”
So what’s next?
The hard work doesn’t stop here for A Life in a Day team. We’re now actively looking for new opportunities to bring more patient-centric product launches online and build greater awareness and empathy around the diseases our learning solutions are designed to support.
