Meet the A Life in a Day Team

A Life in a Day is developed and delivered by a committed and creative team. Passionate about bringing the patient experience to life, we build and deliver our immersive experiences using techniques to spark greater empathy for the physical, emotional, social, professional and personal challenges patients face.

Mark Doyle, A Life in a Day creator

Mark is co-founder of The Method, the learning and development company that delivers A Life in a Day experiences. He created A Life in a Day in 2015 and leads the team in developing and delivering experiences for clients.

Mark says: “I created A Life in a Day in 2015 from a desire to help make patients’ lives better. Using my background in theatre and film, my team and I designed A Life in a Day with the purpose of evoking greater empathy for patients within the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries – I believe this is the key to unlocking effective patient-centric ways of working.

“Time and again, A Life in a Day participants tell us how the experiences have changed their perspective, and our own research shows the programme regularly inspires lasting change. This is what I enjoy most – knowing that A Life in a Day is actively driving patient-focused conversations, which will ultimately help to improve patients’ lives.”

Kate Jackson, Director

Kate has worked in the learning and development field for more than 20 years and has been part of The Method since 2016. Her role involves supporting growth across the whole business, with a particular focus on A Life in a Day since 2019.

Why did you join the team and what do you enjoy most?

“Knowing that we are delivering a learning product that truly changes how people think, speak, feel and ultimately act is incredibly motivating. We have learning experience that we can deliver, anywhere in the world, at any time, in multiple languages that can and does improve patient lives by increasing empathy is an amazing reason to get up everyday  and make it happen.”

What inspires you?

“People inspire me. Their general resilience and ability to cope with adversity and change however small or large.”

Cora Graham, Client Relationships Manager

Cora joined the team in March 2021 after spending 12 years in healthcare, and manages the business development side of the programme. She builds strong relationships with clients and says her role allows her to meet an eclectic group of people, which she really enjoys.

Why did you join the team and what do you enjoy most?

“I took part in the A Life in a Day COPD experience and it really struck a chord with me how little I understood the patient journey. I have a strong belief that anyone that has direct or indirect contact with patients needs to fully understand the emotional impact of a life limiting condition and A Life in a Day helps you to do exactly that. I love the ethos of the company: Be Kind, Be Smart, Be Ahead – we truly live by those standards.”

What inspires you?

“Seeing people achieve their goals that they once thought were unattainable drives me to push myself as hard as I can.”

Katya Emanuel, Head of Delivery

Katya ensures our experiences are organised and rolled out effectively for maximum impact. Passionate about delivering excellent customer service, she uses her project management skills to grow and strengthen our client relationships through exceptional service.

What do you enjoy most about what you do?

“The client liaison and logistics planning to make the experience a huge success and memorable experience for the participants. Hearing what we delivered was like nothing they have ever done and will have that lasting impression is very satisfying.”

What inspires you?

”Knowing we are changing lives for the better with our experiences. When participants from all levels, clinicians included, walk away from an experience with a greater understanding of patients and committing to change their outlook – this is the jackpot! The realisation our product is transformational for participants, which will ultimately improve patient’s lives, motivates me to keep on pushing to be better at what we do. Because what we do REALLY matters.”

Chiara Keating, Creative Lead

Chiara joined The Method in 2019 as a writer and now leads the creative team for A Life in a Day. A creative writing graduate, she works closely with patients to develop the narrative journey and physical kit of items for each experience.

Why did you join the team and what do you enjoy most?

“I found myself working as a Pharma/Healthcare Account Manager before taking on The Method as a client. I was so amazed by the A Life in a Day experience and loved working with the team, so when I found out they were hiring a writer, I jumped at the opportunity and have been here ever since! I’ve met some truly incredible and inspiring people over the years who I never would have had the chance to interact with outside of my work.”

What inspires you?

“Music, video games, great TV. And Batman.”

Alfie White, Tech and QA Lead

Alfie joined the team just before the UK went into lockdown, in February 2020. Passionate about technology from a young age, he helps design, develop and test the apps and backend system that runs A Life in a Day experiences.

Why did you join The Method?

“I joined The Method after I have been through one of the immersive experiences (it was the CKD one) and was blown away with the level of creativity in disease simulation and the exceptional attention to details which changed my perception about chronic diseases given that I have been trying to do something similar but much simpler for my teams in the past to get our promise of patient centricity to life. And after I met the team, I realised that here is exactly where I should be.”

What inspires you?

“I’m inspired by science & knowledge, good people caring for each other, smart & hard-working teams trying to change the world, innovative food recipes and big car engines.”

Beverley Bryant, Creative Lead

Beverley joined The Method in 2021 as Creative Lead for A Life in a Day, however she became involved in The Method’s work back in 2018 when she shared her story of living with Crohn’s Disease for the development of an Inflammatory Bowel Disease experience. Before joining The Method, Beverley worked for the NHS for 18 years in patient-facing and support roles.

Berverley Bryant A Life In A Day

Why did you join The Method?

“Being involved with The Method as a patient was a cathartic and empowering experience that left me feeling listened to and, for the first time, unashamed of my condition. When the opportunity came up to join the team, and be part of developing something that had such a huge impact on my life, I grabbed it.”

What inspires you?

“Hands down, it’s the patients we speak to. They share their stories with us with honesty and courage. I am determined to make their experiences of living with their condition, the good and the bad, come to life for participants of A Life in a Day.”

Nick Lester, Digital Marketing Manager

Nick has been in the brand-building business for over 10 years and is passionate about implementing strategic marketing campaigns to highlight the value of what we do.

Why did you join The Method?

“I have always been picky about offering my skills to industries where I can do good, having worked in industries promoting charity, UK trade, and education. The Method and A Life in a Day work to improve individuals and companies alike and I can proudly say I am part of it all.”

What inspires you?

“Good food, good shows, and good people.”

Josh Hamilton, Creative Lead

Josh joined the Life In A Day team in January 2022. He is also an author/writer based out of Belfast and he does hope to move across to London soon.

Josh Hamilton A Life In A Day

Why did you join The Method?

“I joined the team because this seems like a company in which I can make people’s lives a little easier by helping their family understand their problems better. Communication and understanding are two of the most important things in the world but can also be difficult.”

What inspires you?

“Music, skiing, and people. (And great storytelling).”
