At the heart of our mission at A Life in a Day is to make ‘things’ better, not just for patients we extend this into all our company operations. Sustainability is fundamental to our business, and as a remote-first company, we are distinctly positioned to embed sustainable practices into our core values and daily operations, ensuring that our growth aligns with the well-being of our planet and society.
Sustainability In our experiences
As part of our immersive experiences, we use physical kits to provide a visceral aspect. To be able to work with our global client base these kits are delivered to participants in all countries across the world. We fully appreciate that this has an environment impact, and we aim to offset our impact in three key ways:
- Recycle: We take considerable time to ensure that all our kits are designed with a focus on sustainability. We provide clear instructions and support on how to recycle, reuse, repurpose, or dispose of the items in a planet friendly way.
- Reuse: We provide the options for returning the kits to us so that we can reuse them in future experiences.
- Replace: We have committed to ensuring the delivery of our packs are carbon positive. For each parcel shipped, the carbon is offset by funding the plantation of seagrass around the world.
Across our remote-first business
Sustainability at A Life in a Day goes beyond environmental concerns. We strive to create value for all our stakeholders, including employees, customers, and communities.
No physical office – By reducing the need for physical office space and daily commutes, we significantly cut down on carbon emissions and resource consumption. This remote model not only aligns with our commitment to sustainability but also enables us to attract diverse talent, fostering an inclusive and innovative work culture.
Thoughtful resourcing – By focusing on ethical sourcing, fair labour practices, and equitable opportunities, we aim to make a positive social impact alongside our environmental efforts.
Our sustainability initiatives are not just about compliance or public relations; they are a genuine expression of our commitment to make ‘things’ better.
With our clients…
While we can ‘say’ we are doing all these wonderful things for the natural and social environment, our clients asked us to also prove it as part of their own commitment to sustainability.
So, we did…
Firstly, we completed our carbon footprint assessment to submit our application for the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Science-based targets show companies how much and how quickly they need to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to be consistent with keeping warming below the most dangerous levels.
We had our emissions reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative as consistent with levels required to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.

Secondly, we were invited to EcoVadis, a globally recognised platform providing a comprehensive, reliable, and independent assessment of a company’s sustainability practices. They help organisations like us to understand and improve our environmental, social, and ethical performance.
We are tremendously thrilled to share that A Life in a Day has been awarded the EcoVadis Bronze rating in recognition of our commitment to sustainability and ethical business practices.
Achieving a Bronze rating places us among the top companies evaluated by EcoVadis, underscoring our efforts in integrating sustainable practices into our business operations. This rating reflects our performance across several key areas, including environmental management, labour and human rights, and ethics.
Commitment to continuous improvement
We are truly thrilled with the award, however we know that sustainability is an ongoing journey and we are committed to continually assess and refine our practices to improve our environmental and social impact. From adopting digital-first strategies that reduce paper waste to selecting eco-friendly tools and platforms, we continue to integrate sustainable choices into every aspect of our operations. We also encourage our team to adopt sustainable practices in their personal and professional lives, supporting a culture of environmental stewardship.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our team members, partners, and stakeholders who have played an integral role in this accomplishment. Your support and commitment have been crucial in reaching this milestone.
We invite you to join us on our sustainability journey. Stay tuned for updates on our progress and upcoming initiatives, and feel free to reach out to us with any questions or suggestions. Together, we can make ‘things’ better!
