At A Life in a Day, our purpose has always been to create meaningful change for patients. Everything we do begins with them – their challenges, their resilience, and their realities. We partner closely with individuals living with a wide range of conditions to uncover the everyday details that often go unseen in traditional research or clinical settings. These lived insights become the foundation of our immersive experiences, crafted to help healthcare professionals deepen their empathy and build a richer understanding of what the patient’s lived experience truly feels like.
We know that these stories deserve to be heard beyond our team which is why we created our Meet the Patient series – a space where some of our contributors share more about their daily lives, the moments that shape them, and the impact their condition has on relationships, work, identity, and wellbeing. It quickly became a powerful reminder that behind every “patient profile” is a whole person navigating life with complexities beyond what we all could comprehend.
As A Life in a Day continues to evolve, so too does the way we tell these stories. And today, we’re excited to relaunch the series under a new name: A Life With…
This refreshed title reflects something core to our mission: no one is defined by their condition. People may live with a condition, but they also live with families, passions, careers, humour, fears, and futures. A Life With… is designed to open the door to more nuanced conversations and creates space for contributors to share their whole selves, not just their diagnoses.
We’re kicking off the new series with the brilliant Scott McClean — a marathon runner, tattoo enthusiast (20 and counting!), and someone who also lives with haemophilia. Scott’s story is a powerful example of what A Life With… is all about. In his interview, he reflects on the everyday decisions that shape his routines, the misconceptions he encounters, and the determination that drives him to push boundaries while managing a complex condition. His perspective offers not only valuable insight for those working in haemophilia, but also for anyone committed to understanding the lived experience behind the label of “patient.”
You can watch Scott’s full interview here, and we promise it’s well worth your time.
