On 21st September, for World Alzheimer’s Day, we are opening the doors to something rarely experienced and often misunderstood.
Our Alzheimer’s immersive experience invites individuals across healthcare to step beyond theory and into a lived perspective that connects patient understanding with patient empathy.
Why this matters more than ever
Dementia is one of the most significant health challenges of our time.
- More than 57 million people worldwide are affected by dementia
- Around 10 million new cases are diagnosed every year [alz.org],
Behind these figures are families, carers, and communities who experience the condition alongside those diagnosed. The emotional and practical impact extends far beyond the individual and is often carried quietly by those providing care.
Despite this, true understanding of what it means to live with Alzheimer’s is still limited. Much of healthcare relies on learned knowledge and patient data rather than lived perspective. That gap is exactly what this experience is designed to close.
From understanding to lived experience
At A Life in a Day, we believe that understanding should not just be intellectual, it should be felt.
This experience allows participants to spend 24 hours living alongside the challenges of Alzheimer’s within their normal working day. It brings to life the cognitive strain, the loss of confidence, the shifting dynamics of trust, and the constant reliance on others that define the condition.
It is a high impact, visceral exprience to understand the patient unmet need, and takeaway immediate changes to better serve those living with Alzheimer’s.
Why we are opening it up
Traditionally, our experiences are delivered in partnership with teams across life sciences. This time, we are opening access to individuals.
Alzheimer’s affects every part of healthcare and reaches far beyond it. Many within our own team have been touched by the condition, reinforcing how universal its impact truly is. This experience is an opportunity for anyone working to improve patient outcomes to gain a deeper, more personal connection to the reality behind the condition.
