key takeaways from developing your patient empathy
We know that getting the go ahead within our industry can be anything but easy sometimes, but we’ve got you covered.
Need a Master Service Agreement (MSA)? Check in with us first as we already have agreements with many pharma companies.
We have measurable proof that unique patient insights lead to better outcomes for anyone within the life sciences, which is why we’ve created a simple email you can copy or download, personalise and send to your manager. This overcomes some of the misconceptions about the experience including the fact that:
- The Myth: It is only for front-line staff who speak directly with patients.
The Reality: By experiencing the “burden of disease” firsthand, 92% professionals who have taken part have changed how they write protocols, design clinical trials, shape brand strategies and much more. - The Myth: Empathy is just a soft-skill, with no demonstrable return.
The Reality: It is so much more. Developing patient empathy through our approach unlocks a unique viewpoint which has resulted in real, measurable outcomes for individuals, organisations, and patients themselves. - The Myth: An experience will take me out of work for the day.
The Reality: A Life in a Day is specifically designed to be disruptive to your normal day, not an escape from it. You go about your working day as normal, but with the challenges and disruptions of living with a chronic condition. - The Myth: This is like ‘x’ who we have worked with before!
The Reality: A Life in a Day is unlike anything you have seen before! We take the patient experience to another level, which is rooted in conversations with patients, patient support groups, HCPs, caregivers and much more.

Subject line: Request to join A Life in a Day’s World Alzheimer’s Awareness Day activities
Hi [Manager’s Name],
I’d like to request approval to join the World Alzheimer’s Experience on 21st September through A Life in a Day.
It’s an immersive patient experience that runs for 24 hours, building my patient understanding and empathy which translates into tangible outcomes. Unlike their standard experiences, there is no minimum registration number required and is £685. It’s also delivered throughout the working day, and I do not need to take time off to be part of it.
There is proven impact that these experiences have an impact on my role, with case studies available on their website.
It will give me not only a rare opportunity to gain the granular, qualitative insights that data alone cannot provide around neurological conditions, but will better understand the challenges outside of the treatment journey.
A workshop takes place after the day to help identify ways I can implement the learnings into my role. Turning this from a soft skill activity into something that drives real value for the company whilst proving our dedication towards patient centricity.
Please let me know if you’d like any further information – I’d really appreciate your approval to be part of this valuable day.
Best regards,
[Your Name]
P.S, it would be great if you could join too!
If you have any questions about this experience, do please get in touch!
